Tree Support System

Tree support systems provide supplemental support to leaders, individual branches, and/or entire trees. Cables, braces and guys provide supplemental support by limiting their movement.

*Lightning Protection System

Singapore is situated near the equator and has warm and humid tropical conditions highly favourable for the development of thunderstorms. Lightning is the greatest natural destroyer of property, including thousands of trees that are struck every year.

Lightning strikes can damage the trees, as well as pose additional risks if the trees are located near homes or other property. Lightning protection systems are installed in susceptible (or lightning-struck trees) to reduce the risks and dangers associated with growth and stability issues. The objective of a tree lightning protection system is to provide a preferred path to ground for the electrical charge; protected trees are not a safe haven from lightning strikes, they simply control the flow of the charge.    

*Tree Cabling

Cables restrict the distance that branches can move in relation to each other. Cable systems minimally consist of a set of anchors, a cable, and the appropriate means of termination or connecting cables to the anchor.

When a tree has a structural defect or condition that poses a high risk of failure, which may result in injury or property damage, a supplemental support system can often reduce the risk. However, not all potential hazards can be mitigated by a support system. The tree needs to be thoroughly examined by an arborist or professional tree care company before installing any support system.
